Both Charles Darwin and Abraham Lincoln were born 200 years ago today. Both men were instrumental in changing history.
The Lincoln story has evolved into a myth of enormous proportions.
Darwin is reviled by many as a great betrayer of religion. I heard that a new Gallup poll says that only 39% of Americans believe in the theory of evolution by natural selection. I have never understood why there should be an either/or when considering how all came to be.
On the other hand, a neat bit was broadcast today on NPR about Darvin's study of earthworms. He was a man of great curiosity. I like people who are curious. Thank God for curious people.
