Though our family was generally secular and irreligious, my grandmother's speech was always peppered with references to God.
Whenever someone spoke about a hope for the future, she would say "From your lips to God's ears." Whenever she spoke of an anticipated upcoming event, she would always add the words "God willing".
The older I get, the more I value these phrases. With so many hearts longing for peace, I have got to believe it will come. Some way, some how. Inshallah.
